Youth Navigators

About Youth Navigators

Youth Navigators (often called intervention workers) support Indigenous youth to overcome challenges, achieve their goals and aspirations, they help navigate the often complicated path to find solutions and services. Navigators place youth at the center of decision-making and support them to build a better future.

Navigators support youth by:

  • starting by asking youth what they want to achieve for themselves, and then offer flexible support to move beyond crisis into identifying and achieving medium and long-term goals

  • using a wrap-around, holistic approach that focuses on everything important to a young person’s wellness, such as culture and community, mental and physical health, education and employability, economic, housing, and food security

  • recognizing that each youth has a different set of circumstances, skills, knowledge, and experiences and what works well for one person does not work well for other people

  • Finding the right services at Native Montreal or with any other services providers out there such as therapists

  • All our navigators will protect our member’s private information and will listen and support them in a safe environment.

** During the pandemic lockdown period, our navigators offer phone and video call interventions and in-person interventions can be requested in safe contactless wellness rooms.
