Role Title:              Day Camp Animation

Reporting to            Day Camp Coordinator

Native Montreal is a non-profit, multi-service, community-based Indigenous organization encompassing cultural and psychosocial intervention programs dedicated to Indigenous peoples of various age groups. We are proud members of the Friendship Center movement. 

IORAHKOTE Camp is a day camp for Indigenous children. With the learning of Indigenous culture as a backdrop, we want children to develop a taste for healthy lifestyles and have the opportunity to experience both physical and social successes in building a healthy self-confidence.

Job Description :
Reporting to the camp coordinator, the monitor supervises and animates the campers to ensure that each child has a rewarding experience and that they can benefit from the camp's objectives.

  • Participate in the training before the camp starts;

  • Participate in the planning and animate the daily activities of the day camp;

  • Facilitate, support and encourage the participation and integration of young people in activities;

  • Coach the group, intervene with young people and ensure their safety;

  • Participate actively in team meetings

  • Collaborate in the maintenance of the premises, as needed;

  • Meet the needs of the clientele (campers and parents) as needed

  • Contribute to camp improvement and supports evaluation and improvement initiatives;

  • Provide daycare outside normal camp hours

  • Perform all other related tasks requested by the Day Camp Coordination Team.

Leadership, dynamism, creativity, versatility, resourcefulness, sense of responsibility, stress tolerance

Requirements:

  • High school diploma

  • Have experience in day camps

  • Experience providing services to Aboriginal children

  • Be 18 years old or older

  • First aid training would be an asset

Work conditions :

  • Seasonal contract from June 13 to August 9, 2024

  • 35-40 hours / week 

  • Salary of $ 16.50 per hour 

  • Work Locations: Angrignon Park, Arthur-Therrien Park, various predetermined locations throughout the city

  • Working hours: Alternation between 8:00am to 4:00pm or 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
