Family health clinic

Our family health clinic is dedicated to providing culturally respectful and safe front-line care that specifically meets the needs of Indigenous families and individuals living in Montreal and its metropolitan area. Committed to a complementary approach with public services, we work to facilitate access to comprehensive and tailored health care.

Who is this new service for?

Services offered

Medical services

You will have access to health professionals trained in addressing the unique needs of Indigenous people who will also provide medical follow-up for your health care issues. Our team works holistically on all aspects of your health.

Here are some examples of the services we offer:

  • Medical consultation

  • Blood tests

  • Prevention, treatment and follow-up (diabetes, cholesterol, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, etc.)

  • Intervention and mental health services

  • Screening for sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBI)

  • Pregnancy monitoring (in collaboration with our partners GMF-U Verdun and the La Maison Bleue network)

  • Parenting advice (attachment, breastfeeding, nutrition)

  • Physical exams of the mother and the baby

  • Seasonal immunisation campaign

A Health Navigation service

In addition to front-line services, a health navigation service will ensure continuity of care. This service will help you book appointments, guide you through the healthcare system or, in some cases, accompany you in person.

Psychosocial support

Family navigators help families overcome challenges and achieve their goals and aspirations, helping them to navigate the often complex path to resolving their difficulties and finding appropriate support services. The navigator puts families at the centre of decision-making and helps them build a better future.

Meet with a Knowledge Keeper

Elders are deeply respected individuals in various Indigenous communities, not least because they are the custodians of traditional teachings, cultural knowledge, spiritual connections and wisdom. That's why this culturally-based service will allow members of Native Montreal to get sound advice from a Knowledge Keeper.
