Virtual Language Classes-Adults

During this time of confinement, Native Montreal is proud to contribute to the revitalization of Indigenous languages by offering an exceptional 3rd semester of free languages courses to its members.

These introductory courses are designed to provide opportunities for Indigenous people to learn their languages and will help Indigenous people that have limited knowledge of their languages to improve them. 

***You will require internet access capable of using the free Zoom platform and it is highly recommended that you use a headset with microphone

Language classes offered in English:

James Bay Cree level 1 / Sunday 2:15 pm
Kanien'kéha level 1 / Sunday 3:30 pm
Mi'kmaq level 1 / Tuesday 7:30 pm

We will prioritize the children of parents who are taking a language class this semester, you can register your children with the same link below.

The course format: 

Free classes financed by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education

For ages 13 +
10 classes of 1 hour per class
From 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays or between 1:00 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, once per week
Location: Virtually, using Zoom
Material will be provided by Native Montreal
Small groups of 5 to 10 adults per class

Next semester starts on: Week of June 1, 2020 for 10 weeks

You will need to create a Logizone account to access the final part of the registration. All personal information is treated confidentially and can only be accessed by employees responsible of Native Montreal programs.

Only one application is accepted per semester, so please choose carefully which course you are interested in the most.

Since our classes have a limited number of places, we have established a priority list that reflects the needs of our community:

1- Indigenous member (First Nations, Inuit and Métis) 

2- Non-Indigenous member who is linked to an indigenous person (foster care, parent, children, partner...) 

3- Non-Indigenous member who works with the community (social worker, nurse...)

4- Non-Indigenous member.
