IORAHKOTE Camp is a day camp for Indigenous children. With the learning of Indigenous culture as a backdrop, we want children to develop a taste for healthy lifestyles and have the opportunity to experience both physical and social successes in building a healthy self-confidence. The camp is divided into three age groups: 5-7 years, 8-9 years, 10-12 years. Team leaders will be responsible for a specific age group.

Summary of responsibilities:
• Reporting to the day camp coordinator, the day camp team leader, assures the safety and respect of the standards of quality the animations of his group as well as to the safety of the participants.

Main functions:
• Compulsory participation in training activities
• Supervise a team of animators and chaperones
• Ensure respect and achievement of thematic planning
• Create, and ensure the animation of the various planned activities and group games
• Communicate regularly with the coordinator
• Have good relations with campers’ parents
• Create an atmosphere of harmony and respect
• Organize team meetings as needed
• Ensure the hygiene, health and safety of participants at all times
• Administer first aid during incidents and complete the report to that effect
• Ensure respect for the different policies and procedures of the camp
• Produce weekly written reports

Personal qualities :
Leadership, dynamism, creativity, versatility, resourcefulness, sense of responsibility, stress tolerance


  • Have at least one year of experience in day camps
  • Experience providing services to Aboriginal children;
  • Good command of French / English spoken and written.
  • First aid training would be an asset
  • Cadidates must pass a criminal background check

Work conditions :

  • Seasonal contract from June 17 to August 23, 2019
  • 35 hours / week for 10 weeks, including training.
  • Salary of $ 15.50 per hour
  • Work Locations: 2515 Delisle Street, Montreal, QC H3J 1K8
  • Working hours: Alternation between 8:00 to 16:00 or 9:00 to 17:00 from Monday to Friday
